In Spicycles there 60 European cities can be invited to participate. Cities who participate will be asked to provide information in return for which:
- They will receive an Velo.Info status Award in Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum for their cycling policy.
- They will receive their ’City Characteristics Report’ and it will be published on the Spicycles Interactive Map for Europe on Cycling planning.
- Participating cities will be able to produce online a Comparison Report comparing their city with other participating cities.
- They will be invited to discuss results of the work done in Seminars and Meetings.
- They will receive Electronic Newsletters and will be kept informed.
We ask participating cities to engage in two activities:
I: Velo.Info Benchmarking:
Sign the charter for Bicycle Friendly Communities in:
Benchmark your city/community with Velo.Info; there are 19 multiple choice boxes to tick, on the following iussues:
- Preparing the policy
- Planning the policy
- Implementation of the policy
- Monitoring & Evaluation of the policy
II: Fill in the City Characteristics Questionnaire
with questions on:
· General characteristics
· Transport characteristics
· Bicycle routes and infrastructure
· Bicycle safety
· Bicycle security
· Bicycle policy
· Bicycle promotion
· Bicycle projects
This information provided will form the bases for your City Characteristics Report as well as for your City Characteristics Comparison Report and for the Interactive Map of Europe on Cycling Planning.
