The relevance of bicycle user groups

Panel discussion with;

Bernhard Ensink, director, Fietsersbond, the Netherlands
Horst Hahn-Klöckner, head of office, ADFC, Germany
Jan Verschooren, president ECF, Fietsersbond, Belgium
Jody Newman, president, League of American Bicyclists, USA

Many cycle-user groups have been in existence for over 20 years. Others have only recently been formed. All of them have to constantly re-define their role in society and find the most effective way to operate and win campaigns. Increasingly the pressure is also on the user-groups to be commercially successful, to work in partnership, have a good outreach programme and a public relations strategy. This panel session will explore how the user-groups are rising to these challenges, and how they see their role developing in the future. Will they still be relevant?
